I have been promising to tell you my adventure at Two Buttons and with Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert. Did that sound like we are best friends? Sadly not so, I have met her two times, both times at her shop, Two Buttons in Frenchtown, NJ.
I say, sadly not so, because after having read two of her books, "Eat, Pray, Love" and "Committed" and having seen the movie with Julia Roberts I feel like I know her. So as you can see I am a fan.
The first time I met Liz...(see I consider myself on a first name basis with her...ahhhh!!! the power of the written word)...was three or four years ago in her shop Two Buttons. I went there with a friend to buy Christmas presents and in the hope of meeting Liz.
I bought the Budah in the photo above and several other things including Japa Mala beads...in fact I bought so much that she and her husband gave me a blancket and japa mala beads as a thank you.
Liz told me then that her book "Eat, Pray, Love" had just come out in Icelandic and that she had a copy that she would leave behind the counter and give me the next time I came into their shop.
I was unable to make it back to her shop until this August. They had moved to a new warehouse.
I did not want to embaras Liz, so I did not mention the book. I did, however, boldly tell her that I had met her before and that I was from Iceland...she with a smile said "I remember"...so kind of her perhaps she realy did remember...we all live under the illusion that we are memorable...I choose to think that she did indeed "Remember"
Here is a photo of Liz and me, looking like the best of friends. The photo was taken by Liz's sister. One regret I have is not taking a picture of Liz, her sister and niece, when they were standing together...all lovely and so beautiful with their kind and inviting smiles.
Just one more thing and then I shall stop gushing. Elizabeth Gilbert signed my Nook and she told me that this was the first Nook cover that she had signed.
Here are some more photos from Two Buttons, in Frenchtown, NJ. If you have a chance go there...you will like it the town is delightful, Two Buttons is amazingand exotic and who knows perhaps you will meet Elizabeth Gilbert and if you are double lucky you will also meet her delightful husband.
End of gushing.
My problems with embedding links is over. Talked with a young lady at Typepad...she suggested that I upgrade my Firefox to the latest version. So I did and presto, problem fixed.
