Deep in the woods there is a house hidden by the trees and protected by an elven being.
This house is the home of the Rackham elves. We are not quite sure what their elven names are but to us they go by Tom Rackham and Annie Rackham...these are fictitious names I am sure...however, they are the names they gave to me, to use in common conversation.
On the top floor is the Rackham's bedroom. A little elf, donning a acorn cap, likes this room and is seen there during the day...we are not sure where she sleeps at night. In one corner is some kind of a rock creature he has been there for centuries, he has never bothered the Rackhams, as a matter of fact they forget that he is there. In an other corner is a mouse like creature who darts in and out at will.
Tom Rackham likes the largest room in the house it is two elven stories high and has a life sized elf tree in it. Tim another elf that likes to come and go, often sits on the floor listening to Mr. Rackhams stories. He particularly likes to hear stories about human beings...although they seem quite fantastical to him.
Mrs Rackham's favorite room is what she calls the bird room, named for the chest that Mr. Rackham painted and gave her as a wedding gift hundreds of years ago. She likes to keep the date a secret from humans like us. There is also a tiny little bird house in one corner and the very smallest elven bird in the world, it is smaller than the smallest humming bird...just to give you an idea of how small it is.
The next room is called the Family Room. Oh, no! not because it has a TV...not at all. You see elves do not have TVs or anything electrical. The name derives from the portrait of Mr. and Mrs Rackham. They use this room only on special occasions...truthfully I suspect it is much like a living room in our human dwellings, not much used.
Where is the kitchen you might ask. Well I asked and got a strange reply. It was and I am puzzled, "We do not need a kitchen, we are elves"
Note: This house was made by me to amuse my grandchildren who visited us last month.
All the furniture, except the bed, is from a collection I started twenty years ago. The maker is unknown to me. I made the bed and the bed covering.
The elves, Tom and Tim, bedroom elf, rock creature and mouse like being, were all made by me..many years ago. Annie Rackham was a gift from a friend and she has been in my possession for over thirty years...although she just told be her name.
All the wood, except the frame of the house, that came from Michael's, was found on our property here in the woods in southern NJ.
The story is by me, and may or may not be fictitious...or as Tim would say "Fantastical"
