I am a rather private person and I don't like to talk about my aches and pains...I am smiling as I write this...you are probably saying..."a private person that writes a blog" However, today I am going to tell you the story of what has been happening for me health wise.
A couple of months ago I was diagnosed as having Common Variable Immune Deficiency...CVID. I have been seeing doctors for years for allergies, sinus infections and too many cases of pneumonia.
A few months ago I started seeing a new doctor who "Heard hoofbeats and thought zebras" for that I shall always be grateful.
I am telling you this because many of you are friends and family, that may have wondered why for years I was always sick and popping antibiotics like candy.
I also wanted to let you have this information, should you or someone you know have the same or similar symptoms. CVID is relatively rare and some say under diagnosed. The current statistic is that it affects one in fifty thousand people.
...and I wanted to say thank you to all of you who are blood donors...I am gaining my health because of you and thousands of other blood donors. Immunoglobulin is extracted from a large pool of human plasma, which comes from thousands of people who have donated blood.
I infuse Immunoglobulin through my skin... this system is called SubQ...I will do that once a week for the rest of my life. If you would like to read more about it click on this link. Just keep in mind that what I do is just about the same as she does, except, I don't need to numb the sites where I insert the needles, the way she does...go to the bottom of the post for photos.
Please don't feel sorry for me...this is not why I am writing this. It should rather be a celebration that at last there is a treatment that is working for me and giving me a better quality of life.
If I had had photos of Zebras I would have inserted them in this post instead of a gold fish and a squirrel, whose antics amuse us to no end.
The clouds, peony and azalea are here because I like them and wanted to share them with you.
